Responsibilities

Intern  for  Social  Media  Marketing

Council on Aging of Elkhart County Inc has served the aging population since 1975, providing supplemental care to eliminate barriers to its mission:

 “Our mission is to provide services and resources which foster wellness, dignity,

independence and quality of life.”

 The Marketing Internship allows for an opportunity to apply the skillset learned in the classroom to a real world, hands-on experience in the areas of:

  1. Social media marketing platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram
  2. Brochure, newsletter, and postcard design and content development
  3. Website design and content for service line marketing
  4. Fundraising portfolio components associated with marketing of mission
  5. Researching and understanding needs of the market served by the Council on Aging, including issues important to this market (for purpose of content development needed to reach market effectively)

The atmosphere in which this position exists will allow for creativity and ingenuity to be explored and encouraged.  A portion of the responsibilities in this internship are ongoing tasks, others are new ventures requiring intern involvement in the design and development of a finished product.  An individual who is not only a self-starter but someone ready to accept a challenge and motivated to generate an impactful result is ideal for our team.

Students majoring in Marketing, Communications or Non-profit management will be considered.  Strong computer skills in general social media applications, MS Office, and design software are required. 

Qualifications

COA needs a knowledgeable, reliable, and self-starter student to assist our agency. The intern will participate in a team which improves the lives of senior citizens.  They also will build a portfolio of achievements in the real world of work.

Social Media Marketing major within an accredited Business Administration program or Communications major with significant Social Media experience. Nonprofit management majors will also be considered.
