At THCVB, we are dedicated to promoting Terre Haute and Vigo County as a premier destination for events, tourism, and sports activities. As a vital hub in West Central Indiana, Terre Haute offers rich cultural experiences, outdoor adventures, and historical landmarks waiting to be discovered. Our mission is to showcase the spirit and unique attractions of Terre Haute, positioning it as a must-visit destination for travelers of all ages.

Responsibilities

As an intern at THCVB, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the dynamic world of destination marketing, tourism promotion, and sports tourism. Throughout the internship, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience and learn essential skills at such events including the 2024 NCAA Division III cross country championship in November. Here's what you can expect to gain from your experience:

  1. Industry Knowledge: You'll gain an understanding of the tourism industry, including trends and best practices. You'll learn about destination marketing, visitor experience management, and the role of tourism in economic development.
  2. Marketing Skills: You'll have the chance to hone your marketing and promotion skills by assisting with the development and implementation of promotional campaigns, content creation, and idea generation.
  3. Event Management Experience: You'll get hands-on experience in event management by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of major events in Terre Haute. From logistical planning to on-site coordination, you'll learn the ins and outs of event production and management.
  4. Community Engagement: You'll have the opportunity to engage with community members, local businesses, and tourism stakeholders to promote collaboration and partnership. You'll learn how to build relationships, foster community connections, and advocate for the interests of the tourism industry.
  5. Communication Skills: You'll enhance your communication skills through various interactions in the community. You'll learn how to effectively convey information, collaborate with community members, and engage with diverse audiences.
  6. Professional Development: You'll receive mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals in the tourism field who are committed to helping you succeed. You'll have the chance to network with industry leaders and gain valuable insights into career pathways in tourism, hospitality, and sports tourism.
  7. Project Development Skills: As part of your internship experience at THCVB, you'll have the unique opportunity to work on a special project that will advance the vision and goals of Terre Haute’s tourism industry, while also providing you with something to put in your portfolio of accomplishments.
