BIM/VDC Detailer Intern
Description
We are a BIM services and education company offering services to MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing) contractors across the US. We have detailers that are tradesmen that have completed apprenticeship programs in their respective fields who are in charge of detailing piping, ductwork, and electrical systems that meet building codes and best practices for commercial, industrial, and institutional contstruction projects. The internship that we offer brings our interns into the projects we are working on alongside our journeymen to help with creating drawings, detailing systems, and being a part of the BIM coordination processes. Our goal is for our interns to become profficient with the software that we use and understand the systems that they are detailing and their complexities.
Responsibilities
Our interns work to create, annotate, and QA/QC MEP installation drawings to ensure that they include all of the design elements from the contract drawings and are clean, tidy drawings that field construction teams are able to install the systems efficiently. They will be a part of coordination meetings where the conflicts that would prevent field installation are discovered and worked through with the other MEP members to create a model that is free of clashes. They will communicate with the project managers and field foremen of our clients to ensure that our deliverables meet their organizations standards.
Qualifications
A qualified applicant should have a basic understanding of computers and folder structures, the ability to communicate effectively, a strong work ethic, and a sense of pride in their work.
