Description

Historic Downtown Kendallville is a nationally accredited Main Street organization, whose mission is to “encourage the economic development, historic preservation, and overall improvement of downtown Kendallville.”  The organization uses a four-point approach to achieve its goals, as follows:

  • Design – improvement of Main Street district’s overall physical appearance
  • Organization – assure ample funding, volunteers, and oversight to ensure the success of the organization
  • Promotion – marketing the Main Street district and its merchants, as well as hosting events that draw patrons to downtown
  • Economic Vitality – strengthening the economic base of the Main Street district

 

Position Description

Historic Downtown Kendallville is looking for a part-time intern to assist in various responsibilities including event planning and prep, social media content development and marketing, administrative work, community relations, and general office duties.  This person reports directly to the Main Street Director. You’ll gain hands-on experience working in areas of community development, marketing, and philanthropy, while growing your skills personally and professionally as a strong leader and community advocate.

Responsibilities

Position will assist with all aspects of the Main Street program including but not limited to the following:

  • Event and volunteer coordination and organization
  • Interface with co-working clients and Main Street merchants
  • Marketing/promotion of the downtown district
  • Tracking staff and volunteer hours, as well as other key data
  • Assist with social media content generation and posting, as well as assist with monthly design and production of e-newsletter, blogs, and other marketing content
  • General administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Availability weekdays between 10am-3pm, plus 2 or 3 Saturdays annually (12 hours/week)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong writing skills
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, as well as Microsoft Office, Google docs, and Canva
  • Individuals must be self-motivated and hard-working, identifying tasks to complete without being directed
  • Comfortable meeting and working with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Must be able to lift at least 25
  • 0 GPA or higher
