Description

Indiana University- Bloomington, 21st Century Scholars Program Office.  The participants will have direct supervision by the Director of the 21st Century Scholars Office and additional supervision by the Assistant Vice President for Student Success. 

 Primary Role: The Project Assistant EARN Indiana Internship for the 21st Century Scholars Program is responsible for carrying out assigned tasks under direct supervision and independently. The primary area of responsibility is to provide project management, assessment, and evaluation within the areas of project development, event facilitation, and peer development.

Interns will be imbedded in the 21st Century Scholars Program staff and one with the Assistant Vice President's team and receive the necessary ongoing training and mentoring from the supervisor/team.  

The learning goals are development of skills in the following areas assessment and reporting, data collection and management, program development, interpersonal communication, leadership and student development, and working with secure data.

Application of these skills and ongoing evaluation to promote professional growth and development.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties/Responsibilities May Include:

  • Assessment and Evaluation and support of the following areas:
    1. Event Facilitation
    2. Peer Development
    3. Project Development
    4. Evaluations of all Indiana Black Expo, Indiana Latino Institute, and Indiana Latino Expo recruitment and ultimate matriculation of underrepresented students with an emphasis on 21st Century Scholars under the Supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Strategy, Planning, and Assessment
    5. Evaluations and strategizing the career readiness programs for 21st CSP
  • Follow FERPA policy and confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned with less than 25% considered clerical in pursuit of the above responsibilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

Intern must be enrolled as full-time IUB undergraduate students during the 2022-2023 academic term which may include summer. Must maintain a 2.5 minimum semester and cumulative GPA for the duration of their service.

Minimum Experience:

Demonstrated experience with coursework, programming, planning, and social media experience.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  1. Self-motivated, organized, and responsible
  2. Able to work in a close team environment as well as independently
  3. Ability to work comfortably and communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  4. Possess an interest in event planning and marketing
  5. Knowledge of common office computer software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel
  6. Possess good problem-solving and decision-making skills
