At **The Botanical Bar**, we specialize in creating a vibrant, welcoming space for plant lovers. Our mission is to provide high-quality plants and plant care products and foster a community that embraces sustainability and self-care through nature. Our social media channels are crucial in building that community and sharing our passion with a broader audience. We are excited to launch an internship program to support aspiring social media professionals and provide them with hands-on experience.
Our internship program is designed to expose the intern to real-world social media strategy and management. The intern will work closely with our founder, Victoria Beaty, and our marketing team to learn the ins and outs of managing social platforms, creating engaging content, analyzing performance, and growing an online presence.
Supervision, Training, and Mentorship:
- The intern will report directly to Victoria Beaty (Founder/Owner) and collaborate with our marketing team.
- The intern will receive one-on-one training and guidance on social media best practices, content planning, and social media marketing tools.
- Weekly check-ins will ensure the intern stays on track and has an opportunity to ask questions and receive feedback.
- They will also be exposed to mentorship opportunities to discuss career goals and professional growth in marketing and entrepreneurship.
Learning Goals:
1. Content Creation: The intern will learn how to create visually engaging and branded content for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
2. Social Media Strategy: They will gain experience in developing a social media content calendar and planning campaigns to support product launches and events.
3. Analytics and Insights: The intern will learn to use social media analytics tools to measure performance, track KPIs, and adjust growth strategies.
4. Community Engagement: They will learn how to interact with our online community and respond to comments, messages, and reviews to build relationships with followers.
5. Branding: Understand how to maintain consistent brand messaging and visuals across all platforms.
Our goal is to ensure that by the end of the internship, the intern feels confident in managing social media accounts, creating content, and analyzing data to drive engagement and growth.
Responsibilities

The Social Media Manager Intern will have the opportunity to work on various creative and strategic projects that directly impact our online presence and brand growth. Unlike standard employee tasks, this role will focus on skill-building projects to enhance the intern’s knowledge of digital marketing and social media strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Content Creation & Curation: The intern will collaborate on developing creative ideas for social media posts, reels, stories, and videos that align with The Botanical Bar’s brand voice. This includes creating original content such as photos, graphics, and short videos.
2. Social Media Strategy Development: The intern will participate in creating and maintaining a social media content calendar to plan, schedule, and post content across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. They will also be able to brainstorm for special campaigns related to product launches, events, and promotions.
3. Analytics & Performance Reporting: The intern will track the performance of social media posts using analytics tools, create weekly reports, and suggest adjustments based on insights gathered from data (such as engagement rates, follower growth, etc.).
4. Community Management: The intern will engage with our online community by responding to comments and direct messages, fostering positive relationships with followers, and assisting with building a loyal community through social media interactions.
5. Campaign Execution: The intern will assist in planning and executing social media campaigns tied to seasonal promotions, events, or collaborations, ensuring each campaign supports our business goals.
6. Market Research: Research social media trends, competitor strategies, and audience preferences to ensure our social media presence remains fresh and relevant.
7. Creative Collaboration: Work closely with the team on brainstorming sessions and idea generation for future content and campaigns.
Administrative duties will be kept to a minimum (less than 25%). They may include tasks like organizing social media assets, scheduling posts using management tools, and lighting assistance in preparing content for publishing.
This internship is designed to give the intern significant hands-on experience with social media management, including real-world projects that will build their portfolio and skills for future digital marketing and content creation careers.

We understand that internships are often the first step into the professional world, so we're looking for enthusiastic individuals with a passion for social media and a desire to learn. While prior professional experience is not required, we're seeking candidates who have:
1. **Interest in Social Media**: A genuine passion for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.) and an understanding of how they work.
2. **Creativity**: An eye for design and creativity when producing content, whether through photography, graphic design, or video.
3. **Strong Communication Skills**: The ability to write captions and content that engage and resonate with audiences, as well as interact with followers in a professional and friendly manner.
4. **Willingness to Learn**: Eagerness to gain hands-on experience in social media management, content creation, and digital marketing strategy.
5. **Attention to Detail**: A detail-oriented mindset to ensure that all content aligns with our brand voice and guidelines.
6. **Availability to Visit Our Store**: The ability to visit The Botanical Bar in Downtown Indianapolis in person to capture high-quality photos and videos of our products, events, and in-store atmosphere for use on social media platforms.
7. **Basic Understanding of Social Media Tools**: Familiarity with social media platforms and essential tools (such as Canva or Instagram’s native tools) is a plus, but we will provide training as needed.
