The Avenue Foundation (TAF), named to pay homage to the rich history and culture of Indiana Avenue, was founded to build racial and economic equity, and empower the Black community in Central Indiana to create generational wealth. The Avenue Coffeehouse & Café is a subsidiary of The Avenue Foundation. The café is a community gathering space committed to inspiring social change and transforming lives and community through food, art, music and culture.

We are seeking a creative and driven Marketing Coordinator/Content Creator to join our team. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in digital marketing, community outreach, and brand promotion within a culturally significant environment. As a member of the marketing team, you'll play a key role in developing and executing our strategic marketing plan.

This internship will serve both The Avenue Foundation and The Avenue Coffeehouse & Café.

Responsibilities

DIGITAL MARKETING

- Assist in developing and executing social media marketing campaigns to promote The Avenue Coffeehouse/Foundation.

- Create engaging content for social media platforms (Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) that resonates with our audience and aligns with our brand identity.

- Monitor social media channels and engage with followers to build community and foster relationships.

CONTENT CREATION

- Write blog posts, newsletters, and other marketing materials that highlight our coffee offerings, community events, and initiatives.

- Capture and edit photos and videos to showcase the unique atmosphere and offerings of The Avenue Coffeehouse.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

- Help coordinate and promote events that celebrate Black culture, including live music performances, art exhibitions, and educational workshops.

- Assist in developing partnerships with local organizations and influencers to expand our reach and impact in the community.

MARKET RESEARCH & ANALYSIS

 - Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and opportunities for growth.

 - Analyze marketing metrics (e.g., website traffic, social media engagement) to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives.

BRAND DEVELOPMENT 

- Contribute ideas and insights to enhance The Avenue Coffeehouse brand presence and positioning in the market.

- Assist in maintaining brand consistency across all marketing channels and communications.

 

Qualifications

- Enrolled in a college/university program with a focus on Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and cultural appreciation.

- Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation tools.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 

- Self-motivated and about to work in a fast-paced environment
