How We Carry Out Our Mission: The Community Foundation connects people who care with causes that matter. We have one primary purpose: to receive charitable contributions and invest and manage them as a permanent endowment according to the charitable intentions of our donors and enriching the quality of life in Owen County.

Internships: The Community Foundation offers (2) paid internships for area college students. Working closely with the Community Foundation staff, our interns become an extension of the staff. 

Community Engagement Internship: This intern will work under the supervision of the Director of Community Engagement to develop and launch the Owen County Nonprofit Alliance. The Alliance will enrich the local community by strengthening the nonprofit sector through communication, collaboration, professional development, and outreach. This position will assist with Community Foundation events, fund advisor relations, and serving as a Community Foundation presence at community events and meetings.

Our intern typically works 20-40 hours per week, to be negotiated. These work hours are generally organized Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some meetings and events occurring outside of this schedule.

Responsibilities

Create a calendar & schedule of meetings and events.

Survey local nonprofits to determine their most significant challenges and needs; assist in developing programming that will empower local nonprofit organizations to achieve their highest potential.

Help organize and attend community events, meetings, and forums to represent the Community Foundation and strengthen community ties.

Develop and recommend outreach strategies to engage with the local community partners and target audiences.

Craft press releases, social media posts, and other materials to communicate the work of the Nonprofit Alliance.

Collaborate with the Director of Programs & Communication to promote outreach activities.

Update and maintain tracking for impact reporting for all community engagement initiatives.

Highly organized with acute attention to detail and the ability to prioritize time-sensitive projects.

Enthusiastic learner with a mindset for creativity.

Ability to work a semi-flexible schedule.
