After-School Child Care Intern
Description
Joshua Academy is a K-6 not-for-profit, public, charter school. We are seeking energetic, loving, compassionate and creative Aftercare Child Care Interns to engage in afterschool activities, such as snack preparations, homework help, tutoring, and supervising outdoor play. Group size is no more than 12 students per worker. Interns will work with a team of 3 other workers and a supervisor. Paid training will be provided prior to, and during the work assignment. Must work well with elementary students, ages 5-11 years old.
Learning Goals:
Develop skills for lesson planning and implementation
Apply leadership skills to guide and supervise student groups during various activities
Improved verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
Tasks:
Design and develop program plans
Set up learning stations for students
Expectations:
· Understands, supports and implements the school philosophy
· Knowledge and implementation of state licensing rules and regulations
· Communicates clearly, yet with empathy to students, parents, and co-workers
· Enthusiastically and warmly greets and engages children
· Organization skills must be apparent in the classroom
· Comfortable working in a morals-based environment
· Comfortable receiving and following directions
· Works cooperatively and collaboratively with staff members
· Responsible for assisting with accounting for children, attendance, behavior coaching, instruction, supervision, snack preparation and distribution, etc.
Qualifications
Must be available to work part-time hours: 2-6 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Qualifications:
· Must have a high school diploma or equivalency, some college preferred
· Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
· Must meet DCS hiring requirements
