Description
E-gineering's Internship Program aims to offer interns a real-world professional consulting experience whereby they deliver value.
E-gineering uses the Scrum Agile framework; however, candidates do not need prior experience with Scrum but should be passionate about team-oriented environments and process frameworks like Scrum that promote feedback loops and continuous improvement.
Throughout the program, interns may have the opportunity to practice various skills. While E-gineering leadership will attempt to allow each intern to focus on their primary skill area, interns will assume the responsibilities of any role necessary to deliver value to the customer. E-gineering considers this especially crucial, given the limited experience of individuals still in school.
Past clients have included non-profit and for-profit corporations.
Projects have included:
- Software analysis, evaluation, and recommendation for purchase
- Development of a custom Salesforce app
- Web development and website architectural improvement
- Integration of third-party donation software to an existing WordPress site
- Custom software development to enable data collection from physical sensors
- Custom software development of a new product to track and store microbial lab results
- Docker deployment architecture proof-of-concept
- Automation of manual test scripts for a web application using Cypress
- Business Intelligence reporting using tools like Power BI or Tableau
Responsibilities
- Learning the basics of the Scrum Agile framework
- Attending daily stand-ups, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives
- Estimating user stories
- Engaging in critical thinking and articulating assumptions so that the team can agree upon the level of effort for a given story
- Tracking issues in systems such as Atlassian Jira, Azure DevOps, or GitHub
As a developer, interns will establish an understanding of the fundamentals of the required programming language(s). They will learn the following:
- source control and developer workflows,
- to submit pull requests, participate in code reviews, and
- to use frameworks, libraries, and SQL or NoSQL database technology.
Other activities that are part of the internship may include:
- book club
- participating in a service project
- attending an Indianapolis Indians outing
- one-on-one lunches with EG consultants
Qualifications
- Degree or majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Completed at least two semesters toward your undergraduate degree, or higher, by summer 2025
- Servant- and team-oriented mindset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Intellectual curiosity and passion for solving challenging problems using technology
