Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized intern to assist with managing and maintaining various business certifications, including Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), Women Business Enterprise (WBE), and Disability-Owned Business Enterprise (DOBE) across multiple states. This role is ideal for someone with an interest in government processes—particularly those who have a background or coursework in Public Affairs, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Certification Management: Research, track, and maintain requirements for WOSB, WBE, and DOBE certifications in different states, ensuring all documentation and renewals are up to date.
  • Documentation & Filing: Prepare and organize certification applications, forms, and renewal paperwork, working closely with internal teams to gather necessary information.
  • Database Maintenance: Update and manage digital records of certification statuses, renewal schedules, and relevant compliance documents.
  • Reporting & Communication: Generate regular status reports on certification progress, communicate updates, deadlines, and next steps clearly and efficiently.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with colleagues to ensure all documentation meets government and organizational standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Public Affairs, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field; experience or coursework from SPEA is a strong plus.
  • Government Knowledge: Understanding of government structures, regulations, and compliance processes.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to handle precise documentation and identify discrepancies in forms and data.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite); experience with any data management or project management tools is a bonus.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills; ability to interact professionally with team members.
  • Motivation & Initiative: Self-starter who enjoys working on documentation, problem-solving, and improving processes.
