Cloud Engineer Internship
Description
It's an important part of any internship, but even moreso at Trek10, as the work we do is very, very technically deep. We are global experts in our field and we expect our interns to dive deep. From day one you'll start learning about our internal systems and processes and our CloudOps support business. You'll also be expected to learn a lot about some of the following:
- AWS
- Serverless and AWS Lambda
- Event-driven architectures
- IOT
- node.js and/or Python
- Database technologies like DynamoDB (NoSQL) and Postgres
- Continuous Integration and automated deployment
- DevOps
- Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation)
Responsibilities
We typically have interns take one 1-3 fairly large internal projects over the course of the summer. These will be internal tools that help us do our jobs better and supporting our clients via our 24/7 CloudOps service. You'll be expected to commit code to Git and learn Continuous Integration systems to debug and deploy your code. The work you do may be internal and proprietary, but often our interns end up open sourcing new projects to our GitHub and writing posts for our very popular tech blog.
Documentation is critical, and you'll learn how to write good wiki articles, READMEs, and other technical documentation so that the work you do can be immortal! Challenge yourself. Come join us! Be great; help write the future; solve problems; develop your skills; and have fun!
Qualifications
We need an individual who loves to solve puzzles, who sees beyond the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd levels of why something broke (or worked), and who loves to mistake-proof (aka human-proof) Systems. We need systems level thinkers. We need someone who is a strong independent worker, but also enjoys being part of a team. We need execution, attention to detail, and excellence. We need an individual who is an excellent communicator, especially written, who enjoys interacting with clients (good, smart, capable clients). And we want someone eager to learn about AWS, Serverless, and the future of DevOps / CloudOps. We need someone who can take a vision and run with it. We’d love someone who creates their own vision and goes for it.
