Description
Old Town is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our team in Carmel, IN, where the opportunity to gain hands-on accounting experience and learn about various aspects of the accounting function at Old Town will be afforded. We are a dynamic and growing custom home builder, real estate developer, and commercial construction firm, known for developing outstanding locations with timeless home designs. The Accounting Intern will report to the Controller. Training will be administered by the Controller. Tasks/projects will be assigned by the Controller and other members of the accounting team.
The goals I have for the Accounting Intern are to gain experience and skills in the accounting profession within the real estate/construction industry, to collaborate effectively with a team, to understand professionalism and how to conduct oneself in the workplace, and to gain an understanding of Old Town's culture, vision, and mission.
Responsibilities
- Record monthly accruals
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations for all entities
- Complete monthly intercompany reconciliations
- Complete monthly debt reconciliations
- Organize and enter property tax and property assessments data
- Record journal entries and update sales log for Fields Market Garden (non-profit entity)
- Track and organize W-9s and certificates of insurance for all vendors
- Compile and organize data pertaining to vendors for 1099-purposes
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- In the process of completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting
- Actively or will be actively pursuing CPA license
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Self-starter who can work well both as part of a team and independently
- Willingness to contribute when and where needed, to work with other team members to ensure all functions are completed in an efficient and timely manner
