FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Hours: 400 hours at $12.50 per hour
Job Summary:
As the county-wide chamber of commerce and economic development organization, Grow Wabash County takes on a variety of projects in a fast-paced work environment to create a prosperous Wabash County.
Interns for Grow Wabash County serve as project management support and completes various marketing and economic/business development projects on a schedule agreed upon at the beginning of the semester. This internship will connect you to community leaders and really allow you to get a glimpse into the life of a community developer.
Projects that you can look forward to fall within with our five pillars of service: workforce development, business development, entrepreneurship services, investor services and livability. We cater our internships projects towards your experience and field of study to make it rewarding for you. Hours of Employment:
Generally, 25-40 hours a week for 7-12 weeks between the hours of 8a.m. – 5p.m. with adjustments due to special events. Schedule will be set in advance based on availability during hiring process.
Responsibilities
- Support team in planning, marketing, and executing events and programs including, but not limited to: WACCY Golf Outing, Annual Celebration Dinner, Leadership Development of Wabash County, ribbon cuttings and various educational events.
- Development, event planning, and marketing for the Young Professionals of Wabash County (YPWC) group
- Assist with the creation and scheduling of social media content for GWC and YPWC social media channels
- Support team in execution and marketing of big initiative projects
- Maintain and update membership brochures and recruitment materials
- Help carryout programs and recruit for workforce development training initiatives
- Assist with program needs for Leadership Development Wabash County
- Prepare and edit press releases for GWC and YPWC
- Assist with managing and updating Grow Wabash County’s website and media content
- Support our fee for service programs as assigned for our public investors
- Update and maintain sites and building database to market available commercial properties to prospective businesses
- Assist with foreign investment strategies to attract new businesses
- Assist with entrepreneurship and small business support efforts to assist existing and new startup business throughout Wabash County
- Interact and assist community members that visit the Grow Wabash County office
- Collaborate on other projects and events as assigned
Qualifications
- Prefer students with focuses in the business college, but not required as we cater the internship experience to your major focus and career goals
- Proficiency in computers and Microsoft Office suite
- Prefer some experience with social media management but not required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in team environment and independently on projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and perform tasks independently after assigned
- Self-starter that is highly motivated
