So, itâs now officially August, and if youâre anything like me, youâre looking at your summer reflecting on everything youâve accomplished. My full-time internship at Slingshot SEO has definitely been a contributing factor to my fast paced summerâbut I honestly donât mind. Itâs crazy to think that I worked forty hour weeks and actually enjoyed it!
Back in December when I was frantically applying for internships, IndianaINTERN.net helped me find exactly what I was looking for. The countless hours I spent searching for internships, researching companies, submitting my resume and hitting ârepeatâ on that very process finally paid off when Slingshot SEO offered me an internship. When I received the call from my (current) boss, I was elated! Little did I know how much I would learn in a few short monthsâŠ
When I applied for the internship at Slingshot SEO, I figured it would be like the “typical internship”âI would be assigned a task, often very repetitive, to lighten the load of the employees. My perception was that the intern was lowest on the totem pole; I thought I would be lucky to get one large project as a takeaway. I couldnât have been more wrong about my experience as an intern at Slingshot SEO.
From the first day, I have been on my toes. My boss, the HR Coordinator, constantly opened the door for learning experiences, so every day was an addition to my portfolio of knowledge of the HR field. I had the opportunity to apply the principles I learned in my Business and Law courses at Indiana Wesleyan University to an actual business environment. I am challenged to think outside-of-the-box and be creative in completing my assignments.
Aside from the projects Iâve in which I played a role, I have also enjoyed Slingshot SEO culture. It is so unique to be in an environment with intelligent, motivated and fun-loving people who are passionate about what they do. Whether itâs the Development department running through the office with Nerf guns or one of the founders riding around on his electric skateboard, there is always something exciting happening at the Slingshot SEO office. Oh, and it doesnât hurt that every employee gets Fridays off to devote some time to personal research as he or she sees fit!
So, as I reflect on my summer, I am thankful for the opportunity to intern at Slingshot SEO. Sure, I missed out on some days by the pool, and I had to wake up early, but it was definitely worth it. My advice for college students: use IndianaINTERN.net to find your perfect internship match. Maybe youâll get lucky and be given the opportunity to work at a great company â I was!
