Interns and Mentors Invited to Three Summer Events

Interns from organizations throughout Central Indiana are invited to events at the Fountain Square Theatre Rooftop Garden (June 2), The Childrenā€™s Museum of Indianapolis (June 14) and Indiana State Fair (August 4). Each will offer professional development and networking opportunities in addition to time to explore the venues.

Indy Intern Connection, hosted in partnership with the Indy Chamber, will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Fountain Square Theatre Rooftop Garden. Network with local professionals and enjoy the festivities of First Friday with drinks, duck pin bowling, food and open artist galleries throughout Fountain Square. Capacity is limited and online registration is required.

The Indiana State Fair event will begin at 9 a.m. (check-in: 8 a.m.) with a welcome and networking activity. Interns will be invited to enjoy the fair at their leisure and participate in an optional social media contest administered by Indiana INTERNnet. The contest will conclude in the early afternoon.

In 2016, nearly 400 interns participated in Indiana INTERNnet events at The Childrenā€™s Museum of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Zoo and Indiana State Fair. The purpose of these events is to increase talent retention in Indiana. A feeling of community connectedness is a significant factor in a young professionalā€™s decision regarding where he or she lives and works.

ā€œTalent retention is at the core of Indiana INTERNnetā€™s mission,ā€ emphasizes executive director Janet Boston. ā€œTo complement the real-world experience interns gain on the job, these engagement events provide an opportunity for interns to build relationships through networking and develop community pride.ā€
