August is the busy month of back to school! So far, your summer has been pretty great. Youâve been relaxing in the sun, hanging out with friends and generally enjoying your free time. Until you read this blog and realized classes start soon⊠Is the stress sinking in? Check out these helpful tips for how to prepare for the semester.
- Make sure youâre registered for the correct classes
Thereâs nothing scarier than realizing you canât graduate on time because you took the wrong course. Contact your career development office to confirm youâre on the right track to receiving all the required credits. If youâre on a waiting list, be sure to keep checking its status.
- Plan your route
The first week of the semester is always a busy time. Determine where your classes are on campus and where you should park. Some colleges require you to purchase a parking pass. Make sure you have this, or search for off-campus parking options. Carpooling is always a great option!
- Invest in a good planner
Whether you prefer a physical planner or digital, figure out when you have class, study time and time at your internship/job. Google calendar is a great online tool to utilizeâyou can also make lists of assignments and other to-dos.
- Stock up on supplies
While the days of elementary school lists are gone, you will still need the essentials: pens, pencils, highlighters, notebooks, flash drive and laptop. Heart notepads and pink-perfumed paper are not required. Be sure to shop the sales on back-to-school items!
- Mentally prepare yourself
This is a crazy busy time in your life. No matter how much you plan ahead, there will still be some surprises thrown your way. Take some time before the semester starts to relax and do something fun. Be sure to add some fun and relaxation time throughout the semester as well!
