Indiana INTERNnet celebrated internship excellence on February 7, 2018 at the 12th Annual IMPACT Awards Luncheon. Though the event is over and the winners have been announced, we are continuing to celebrate the nomineesâ successes.
These are their stories
Camisa Vines is a senior at John Adams High School and is expecting to graduate in June 2018.
Indiana INTERNnet: Are you planning to attend college? If so, what school(s) and major/minor are you considering?
Camisa Vines: I plan on attending Purdue University and majoring in computer information technology and/or computer science. I am also considering a minor in Sports Media or some sort of graphic design.
IIN: Describe your internship with South Bend Code School.
CV: Within my internship, I instruct younger students how to build games and websites.
IIN: How did you become interested in coding and computer programming?
CV: For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in computers. When I heard that there was going to be a new coding program in the area, I was immediately signed up to explore this interest of mine. I fell in love with the program and the people. After learning what I know, I was invited to help instruct others.
IIN: I understand you completed an internship with a local technology company before instructing students at the Code School. Could you describe that experience?
CV: Yes, I worked, and continue to work, with a company called Luma. I received this internship 5 weeks after my 16th birthday, and it really exposed me to a life in the tech company. I am able to go to school full time while working and communicating remotely. Within this company, my job is to build courseware for different universities around the country.
IIN: You were this yearâs High School Intern of the Year for IMPACT Awards. How has it impacted on your life?
CV: It is an absolute honor to be recognized for the things that I enjoy. It feels amazing to know that my âemployersâ think so highly of me, and it makes me want to strive to do even more. Itâs something that Iâll cherish forever.
IIN: What are your future career goals?
CV: My only goals are to be happy, healthy and wealthy. I want to continue to love what I do. I want to be healthy while Iâm doing it. And I want to be rich in knowledge, experiences and love for others.
Thats my cousinnnnnnnnn !!! So proud of you…….
