The Best Things To Do in Indiana This Winter

I know that we just had Thanksgiving break and most people are thinking about finals week (which is just around the corner), but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun and spend some time with family and friends. A couple weeks ago I curated a list that was perfect for the fall/spooky time but now it is time for winter/snowy season

Christmas at the Zoo – Indianapolis, IN

Christmas at the Zoo is a classic for the holidays. Lights, hot cocoa and cute animals make for the perfect night out with friends or family. While there are some inside portions be prepared to be outside for most of the evening. The lights are stunning and offer a ton of great places to take pictures.

Light Displays – All Over Indiana

Another great option to experience lights is Winterlights at Newfields. Take a stroll through the thousands of lights and enjoy some fun winter treats. Take a break by the fire pit to sip some hot cocoa as you watch the lights dance to music on the Lily House lawn. You can also use this list from Visit Indiana to find a light display in your part of the state.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis – Indianapolis, IN

For those that are looking for something to do inside this winter, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is offering $5 tickets for college students! Bring your college ID and spend some time hanging out and maybe learn a thing or two. You can spend some time learning about dinosaurs or walking around the Jolly Days Winter Wonderland.

Ice Skating! – Avon, IN

There are so many amazing places to go ice skating all throughout the state. It is super easy to find your nearest location just by asking around or a quick internet search. If you are looking for a new take on ice skating, Avon has exactly what you need. Ice bumper cars! Spend some time skating around or riding in the bumper cars on the ice.

Neighborhood events – Everywhere!

One great thing about the winter season is that a ton of cities will celebrate this festive time with lights or a parade. Do a quick internet search to see all the amazing possibilities out there. Whether it is going on a road trip to a city you’ve never been to or just driving around your hometown, enjoy the snowy weather and decorations anywhere throughout the state.

I know a lot of these cost money but don’t forget about all the super fun and inexpensive ways that you can enjoy these cold winter days. It could be making hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies or going to take pictures in the snow with friends. Use these last couple of days before the semester is up and even during your break to enjoy time with friends and family.
