In celebration of Thanksgiving, the Indiana INTERNnet team would like to share what we are thankful for in our careers.
Allison Gaffney
I’m thankful for my internship experience at Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis. During those three months, I was surrounded by passionate coworkers who were willing to help me develop the skills I needed for success outside of the classroom. I was entrusted to take on large tasks like creating a social media campaign for Giving Tuesday. This gave me a lot of confidence in my work, and I’ve been able to carry that over to my career with Indiana INTERNnet.

One thing I regret in my career is only doing one internship, however I am thankful that single experience transitioned to a full-time position. The opportunity has allowed me to further develop my skills and continually grow with Indiana INTERNnet. I am also thankful for my family’s support throughout my college education, it would have been impossible without them.

I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to work with several excellent managers throughout my career, especially early on. The best managers I’ve worked with inspired me to want to be the very best that I could be. They provided both constructive feedback on ways to improve and grow and also encouragement and praise when warranted. They were great communicators and leaders that helped to grow my confidence and showed me not to be afraid to take a risk.

I am truly thankful for the work of my outstanding staff at Indiana INTERNnet. Their dedication and passion is evident in the progress we have made this year. Our work is enhanced through the support of our Board of Directors and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. I am thankful for all of our partners that help us expand and advance our resources for talent retention in Indiana.
