Now is the time when we start thinking about what we’re thankful for, and why. In this post, the Indiana INTERNnet team reflects on what we’re thankful for in our careers.

Allison Kuehr

I am thankful for my fantastic coworkers. Iā€™m fortunate to enjoy what I do, but Iā€™m even more fortunate to love the people I work with. During my time with Indiana INTERNnet, Iā€™ve made some great friends and mentors. Theyā€™re always there to celebrate achievements and birthdays, share a laugh or dish some advice. As Iā€™m still in the beginning stages of my career journey, itā€™s nice to have an amazing in-office support system guiding me and cheering me on along the way.

State of Change: Why Itā€™s Important to Share Your Story

ā€œState of Changeā€ is a documentary that aired Sept. 6 on WFYI. For those who missed it (itā€™s now available online), the film follows three Indiana students ā€“ Shannon, Dengke and Jaedyn ā€“ as they take a road trip around the state, interviewing different professionals in some of Indianaā€™s leading industries. Each student comes from a unique background and has questions about their future that theyā€™re looking to answer.

It shows a time many know well, whether youā€™re a high school or college student; an entry-level or seasoned professional. The transition from graduating high school to entering college and charting the path for your future can be a difficult one.

The interviews led to valuable lessons: the path to your ideal career doesnā€™t have to be linear, a career fieldā€™s work might differ from your assumptions and the importance of interacting with a variety of people in a field youā€™re …

Interns Enjoy Networking, Fun at The Childrenā€™s Museum of Indianapolis

This week, Indiana INTERNnet partnered with The Childrenā€™s Museum of Indianapolis to host our second intern engagement event. We wanted to provide an opportunity for the students to enhance their social and professional networks, devote time to career development, and have FUN! Since the Childrenā€™s Museum is the ā€œbiggest and bestā€ in the world, we knew this would be a day to remember!

The morning started with professional development where students learned about the museumā€™s fantastic internship program. In 2012, Vault, Inc. named the museumā€™s internship program one of the top 10 non-profit programs for interns in the nation. In 2013, Indiana INTERNnet named The Childrenā€™s Museum of Indianapolis Employer of the Year at the annual IMPACT Awards luncheon (LINK). Many were surprised to hear the Childrenā€™s Museum …
