There are many ways to sponsor the IMPACT Awards, with investment levels starting as low as $950. All guarantee visibility prior to, during and after the event.
You also can individually recognize internship excellence by sending your favorite intern, employee or educator a gift box filled with goodies from Hoosier companies. Snag a bag of gummy bears, pretzels or fudge. …

Why You Should Recognize Your Intern’s Work
Lots of employers take on interns. Plenty of professionals will tell you the importance of a structured intern program. But sometimes itâs easy to get lost in the handling of day to day tasks. For most interns, this role is their first experience of the âreal worldâ of their desired career path. It can be overwhelming, stressful, and completely new. This makes it crucial to recognize your interns when they do great work.
Whether positive or negative, feedback is necessary.
One of the signs of a successful internship program is constant feedback. There should be some type of schedule laid out for performance reviews or self-evaluation, and outlining tasks and goals. Of course, sometimes there is a need for constructive criticism. But donât let that be all your intern hears from you! Positive reinforcement, while it seems trivial, goes a long way. Recognizing your intern when they succeed with an …

Meet the Intern: Marissa Smith
Hello, my name is Marissa and I am excited to be Indiana INTERNnetâs intern for the summer of 2018. I have just wrapped up my junior year at IUPUI, where I study journalism, public relations and advertising.
Prior to relocating to Indianapolis for college, I attended high school near my hometown of Losantville, Ind. Though Indy is a relatively small city, it is huge compared to Losantville, which has a population of less than 300 people! I definitely prefer city living and plan to move somewhere even larger later on in my career.
My previous positions have all been communications or event management related, taking place at locally-based organizations such as the Indiana State Museum, Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis, and Indiana Futsal. In addition to my new position here, I am also currently interning with HWC Engineering as part of the firmâs pilot program creating public relations plans for …

Indiana INTERNnet: What made you interested in going back to school for accounting?
Joseph Slaby: I graduated from Indiana State University in spring of 2017. I initially attended Ivy Tech and earned a two-year degree and later decided to go back to school in order to order to have more opportunities with a four-year degree. Accounting was a field I was drawn to because my senior year of high school was in 2008-2009âwhich is when the massive economic downturn occurred. During those months I …

Shoshannah Bontrager: Making an IMPACT
Indiana INTERNnet celebrated internship excellence on February 7, 2018 at the 12th Annual IMPACT Awards Luncheon. Though the event is over and the winners have been announced, we are continuing to celebrate the nomineesâ successes.
These are their stories
Shoshannah Bontrager received her Bachelor of Science in Business, with a concentration in Accounting and Finance from Grace College. Last year, she completed an internship with Poly-Wood, LLC.
Â
Indiana INTERNnet: What did you like most about your internship with Poly-Wood, LLC?
Shoshannah Bontrager: I loved how involved upper management was with everyone. There are over 300 employees, but the CFO worked one-on-one with me, an intern, to teach me about how to create financial statements, GAAP rules, etc. The company also works hard to make the environment one where people love going to work, and they succeed!
IIN: What was the most challenging project you were assigned?
SB: While I …
