Commodore Manufacturing
Organization Overview
Perry Central Community Schools is a small, rural community school nestled in the Hoosier National Forest of southern Indiana. Our population is approximately 350 students, over 35% students on F/R lunches and 24% special education.
Program Overview
Commodore Manufacturing is a student-led manufacturing company that is located within the footprint of our school facility. Students are vendors for Waupaca Foundry (one of the largest employers in Perry County), Boston International, ATTC and other local companies. Students also run their own product lines that they sell to the community. Students take turns with all of the leadership roles of the business including logistics, production, safety specialist, business office, etc. Students make money while attending school through this program and walks side by side with our local employers, creating authentic work experiences for students. This program is also aligned to Next Level Program of Study Advanced Manufacturing Mechanical. Students can earn 6 dual credits, the opportunity to take the MSSC industry certification and related instruction and on the job training for the Department of Labor Apprenticeship program.
