Program Overview

Endress+Hauser/ Industry Consortium for Advanced Technical Training (ICATT) apprenticeship model structured as follows:

The apprentice attends IVY Tech Community College two days a week while working for Endress+Hauser three days per week seeking a degree in AAS Advance Automation Robotics Technology (AART). Completing the degree in two years, this equates to 1500 hours of instruction. During the three days a week the student focuses on the pathway of choice Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) or Mechatronics Technician (MT). The apprentice gains company specific internal knowledge and skills training then is evaluated at the end of year two and three to their competency completion rate of the program by ICATT. This coupled with a progression wage rate that tied to competency gained by passing both scholastic requirements and Internal competency requirements over each year of completion of the program. The required On the Job Training (OJT) equates to 4000+ hours. Once the apprentices have passed AHK ICATT exams (German Apprenticeship Certification), obtained their AAS AART, and Hours of OJT. They will receive there DOL certificate in Industrial Manufacturing Technician or Mechatronics Technician. Core competencies listed below for the two pathways.

  1. Advance Manufacturing Technician (AMT)
    1. Industrial Mechanics - Assembly and Rigging
    2. Machining - Milling, Turning, Grinding, Separation.
    3. Hydraulics and pneumatics - Installation and troubleshooting.
    4. Basic Electrical - Installation, high voltage, control voltage, troubleshooting.
    5. Maintenance - preventive, predictive, troubleshooting.
    6. Problem solving of systems - Six sigma, PDCA, Kata, 5S.
    7. Safety - OSHA 10
    8. Project management
    9. Design Principles - Autodesk Inventor, Adaptive modeling
  2. Mechatronics Technician (MT)
    1. Industrial Mechanics - Integration of systems
    2. Basic Machining - Milling, Turning, Grinding, CNC advance programming.
    3. Hydraulics and pneumatics - Installation and troubleshooting
    4. Basic Electrical - Installation, high voltage, control voltage, troubleshooting.
    5. Advance Electrical - Servo controls, Motor, Motor Controls, PLC,
    6. Networking principles
    7. PLC Programming
    8. Robotics Programming
    9. Basic Maintenance - troubleshooting.
    10. Problem solving of systems - Six sigma, PDCA, Kata, 5S.
    11. Safety - OSHA 10
    12. Project management
    13. Design Principles - Autodesk Inventor, Adaptive modeling
