Organization: Holistic Evolution (H.E.), founded in October 2019 by Esther J. Lewis, is dedicated to enhancing the lives of young men of color ages 16-24 through mentoring, health equity, and preventive efforts. Inspired by Esther’s personal journey and over 20 years of experience in youth development, H.E. aims to collaborate with community organizations to build capacity and achieve a significant societal impact.

Mission: We envision a world where young men of color are safe, supported, and resourced to achieve their optimum quality of life.

Theory of Change:We are seeking to recruit and train Young Men of Color on youth participatory action research to increase their knowledge and awareness of value of research related to positive health choices, increased knowledge and awareness of value of participatory based and evidence based research as it relates to positive health choices.

 

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Research Support:
    • Assist in implementing community-based assessments, project planning, and dissemination of findings.
    • Participate in research-related activities such as interviews, survey creation, community mapping, literature reviews, and data analysis.
    • Attend in-house research meetings and training to enhance skills in Community Participatory Research.
  2. Communication & Reporting:
    • Communicate research progress, findings, and importance to community members through Teach-Ins and other forums.
    • Support the evaluation of program effectiveness and contribute to storytelling about the impact of H.E.'s work.
  3. Community Recruitment & Engagement:
    • Recruit and build partnerships with community leaders, barbershops, and volunteers (medical and non-medical).
    • Develop and implement strategies to engage local community members and organizations.
    • Support community leaders in planning and coordinating volunteer training for accurate data collection.
  4. Sponsorship & Donations:
    • Acquire and coordinate sponsorships and donations from local businesses, organizations, and other stakeholders.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with sponsors and donors to support community needs.
  5. Administrative & Reporting Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of community engagements, resource distribution, and volunteer activities.
    • Prepare and submit reports on the impact of community initiatives and resource utilization.
    • Manage communication with community partners and stakeholders to ensure alignment with H.E.’s goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience working within the respective communities/counties and a strong relationship within the community.
  • No formal training in research or statistical analysis is required, but a genuine interest in supporting the community through research-based practices is essential.
  • Community Experience:Volunteer Management:Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to engage and connect with diverse community members and stakeholders.
    • Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office; willingness to learn other software programs as needed.
    • Experience in resource acquisition and management, including sponsorships and donations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
