Description

The Donor Engagement and Communications teams at Riley Children’s Foundation work closely to develop and implement content and experiences that portray the impact of RCF to the wider community and appropriately steward donors who give philanthropically to support clinical care, research, and programs at Riley Children’s Health.

This intern position will report to the Stewardship Manager and will work with Riley families and providers to share their stories, create content for direct email communication and social media. In addition, this position will be responsible for the planning and implementation of Riley’s annual Thank-A-Thon program/event to recognize specific segments of donors to RCF.

This intern position will provide general support to the Donor Engagement and Communications teams as necessary.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Interning at Riley Children's Foundation offers a first-hand glimpse of how the Foundation ensures that children have access to exceptional healthcare by funding pediatric research, education and care.  We at Riley Children's Foundation raise funds statewide and steward assets for the kids.

  1. Donor Engagement Team Support 
    • Create 2024-25 donor touchpoint calendar – story ideas and contact list
    • Clinical research stories from Children’s Clinical Research Center
      1. Determine 3-5 research impact stories; interview sources; write stories
    • Plan and implement annual Thank-A-Thon program/event to personally thank specific segment of donors
      1. Work with colleagues to determine appropriate segment and pull data from CRM
      2. Develop plan, script, and details for event, including staff and volunteer coverage
  2. Communications Team Support
    • Interview families, providers, and programs for web and social content
    • Work with colleagues on asset collection, idea generation, and organization of communications priorities
  3. Other Duties as Assigned
    • Riley Children’s Foundation Events: Assist with and participating in events, such as Lights, Camera, Thank You and Riley Champion selection, as requested.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Intern may be assigned projects from the wider Riley Children’s Foundation team. The intern manager will work to identify additional projects or shadowing opportunities that align with intern’s professional interests. 

Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Preferred Majors
    • Communications, Non-Profit, Philanthropy, Journalism, or similar majors would find this internship beneficial to their career goals and would most likely possess the skills needed to perform assigned projects and tasks.
  • Technical Skills Needed:
    • Microsoft Office, Adobe, Canva, social media skills and platform management, Salesforce platform experience is a plus.
  • Professional Skills Needed:
    • Ability to appropriately and professionally represent RCF to donors, physicians, and staff in person, on the phone, virtually, and in writing. Ability to interview sources and distill responses into easy-to-understand stories. Interest in a non-profit or communications career. Eagerness to learn. Discretion in working with confidential information. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
