Position Purpose

Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Intern will gain hands-on experience in a variety of HR functions including recruiting, onboarding, professional development initiatives, and HR-focused special projects. The HR Intern will also have the opportunity to learn about HR best practices and develop their skills in this area.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Interning at Riley Children's Foundation offers a first-hand glimpse of how the Foundation ensures that children have access to exceptional healthcare by funding pediatric research, education and care.  We at Riley Children's Foundation raise funds statewide and steward assets for the kids.

  1. Talent Acquisition
    • Recruiting
      • Assist with publishing public job postings and identifying new posting locations to attract top talent.
      • Plan and schedule candidate interviews.
      • Serve as the point-of-contact for candidates during in-office interviews.
    • Onboarding
      • Assist with scheduling new hire onboarding meetings with internal staff members.
      • Update onboarding materials as needed.
      • Assist in the creation and maintenance of paper and electronic personnel files.
  1. HR Team Collaboration
    • Serve on the Riley Children’s Foundation Morale Team and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Council to help plan and carry out a variety of community boosting activities.
    • Assist Talent Development Manager with various professional development initiatives including the annual review process and learning programs.
    • Prepare internal communications, like the monthly HR & Wellness Newsletters, on behalf of the HR Team as needed.
    • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, employee benefits, technology, and other HR-related matters.
  1. Administrative Duties
    • Office Supplies: Maintain an ongoing office supply/equipment list and submit orders as needed.
    • Compliance: Keep up to date on the latest labor codes and applicable local and state employment laws.
    • Meetings: Prepare for and actively participate in all Riley Children’s Foundation meetings as appropriate.
    • Technology: Understand and effectively use the technology available at the Riley Children’s Foundation.
  1. Other Duties as Assigned
    • Riley Children’s Foundation Events: Participate in Riley Children’s Foundation events as requested.
    • Assist in HR special projects as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Intern may be assigned projects from the wider Riley Children’s Foundation team. The intern manager will work to identify additional projects or shadowing opportunities that align with intern’s professional interests.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Preferred Majors
    • Human Resources, Business, Organizational Leadership, Non-Profit Management, or similar majors would find this internship beneficial to their career goals, and would most likely possess the skills needed to perform assigned projects and tasks.
  • Technical Skills Needed:
    • Microsoft Office, including SharePoint. ADP or any Human Resources Information System (HRIS) experience is a plus. Canva.
  • Professional Skills Needed:
    • Eagerness to learn. Discretion in working with confidential information. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Self-starter with time management skills. Professional demeanor. Ability to succeed in a hybrid work setting as needed. Personal belief in Riley Children’s Foundation vision, mission, and core values.
