Description

The Children’s Museum is fiercely devoted to our Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) efforts. We cannot transform the lives of children and families unless we embrace all families. Together we are building and sustaining an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates differences. 

Responsibilities

 

  1. Developing science programming to be utilized by lab spaces, camps, or special school events.
  2. Assisting with researching and writing science programming, procedures, and evaluation materials.
  3. Facilitating inquiry-based science programming that has been developed by curriculum specialists.
  4. Interacting with visitors in both the STEMLab and other museum science spaces, helping them understand the concepts and content.
  5. Preparing lab space for visitors by maintaining a safe and inviting atmosphere.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High School diploma or GED equivalent. 
  2. Be majoring in the Sciences, Museum Studies, Elementary Education, Child Development, or other applicable major.
  3. Have experience working with children.
  4. Interest in event planning.
  5. Have good writing and communication skills.
  6. Have excellent customer service skills.
  7. Have time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
  8. Be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  9. Be able to work and complete tasks independently.

ADA REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be able to observe gallery space, view activities, exhibit components, and use computers. 
  2. Must be able to communicate face-to-face and through telephone conversations with staff, youth, and the public.  Must be able to project voice when presenting. 
  3. Must have dexterity for keyboarding, manipulating activities, general office work, and program facilitation.
  4. Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; bend, kneel, climb, and reach.  Requires the ability to lift 40 pounds.  Must be able to tolerate dust in the environment.
