Our internship program is designed to provide a dynamic and hands-on learning experience, emphasizing professional development and skill-building in a supportive environment. This intern will work closely with our GIS Analyst and the Senior Planner, who will serve as their supervisor and mentor throughout the program. This mentorship includes regular guidance, constructive feedback, and opportunities to engage in impactful projects that align with Thrive's goals.
Under the supervision of the Senior Planner, interns will receive training in project management, technical analysis, and problem-solving strategies. They will also participate in team collaborations to gain insight into organizational processes and decision-making. The mentorship aims to encourage interns to expand their knowledge, embrace challenges, and develop critical skills essential for their future careers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities  

  • Assist with conducting data collection inventories such as road mileage within a defined area, sidewalk measurements and evaluations, and traffic sign evaluation.
  • Conduct the Greencastle Sidewalk Inventory Project.
  • Assist with research as needed.
  • Coordinate with the GIS Analyst and the Senior Planner on new and ongoing projects

Qualifications

Qualifications:

* Analytical Skills: Ability to collect and analyze data accurately, especially for inventories like road mileage, sidewalk measurements, and traffic sign evaluations. 

* Technical Proficiency: Basic knowledge of GIS software and comfort with spreadsheets or data management tools to organize and interpret information.

* Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring, evaluating, and documenting data for projects. 

* Communication Skills: Ability to coordinate effectively with the GIS Analyst and the Senior Planner, as well as present findings clearly. 

* Time Management: Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines for ongoing projects. 

* Problem-Solving Abilities: Creative thinking and adaptability to resolve challenges during data collection or project coordination. 

* Team Collaboration: Willingness to work closely with others and contribute meaningfully to new and ongoing projects.
