A Damar Internship is a real job providing valuable leadership, mentorship and coaching to the people we serve. Our program offers a great experience for anyone looking to go into the Health Services field. You will gain valuable exposure to our how our facility runs, unique client population, diverse team of highly qualified industry professionals as well as expand your peer network by working closely with other exceptional intern and practicum students with similar ambitions! The Health Services intern will work with a variety of managers at Damar to assist with care coordination, outreach, data collection/analysis, and will have the opportunity to observe/learn from our medical providers. The Health Services Intern will also play an integral role in developing spreadsheets used for tracking quality outcomes and tracking medical appointments.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with care coordination.
  • Develops spreadsheets used to track quality outcomes.
  • Advocates for clients to ensure access to needed services which includes developing community relationships and resources.
  • Monitors client progress and reflects this in the electronic patient medical record.
  • Shows initiative by identifying solutions to work towards improving stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Acts as a good steward of Damar and/or client finances.
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment, and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Completes incident reports, including reporting any suspected exploitation, abuse, or neglect of a client.
  • Respects the culture, diversity and rights of all clients, their families, and the community.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and physical.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements of program(s) assigned to.
  • No felony convictions or other criminal offenses involving a dependent population.
